Question

What is OJT?

I understand that OJT means On-The-Job training and that you can hire people in the programme.
I would like to get more details about the OJT programme from an employer's perspective. How do I, as a business owner hire people through the OJT?

The On-the-job-Training programme (OJT) is a programme created for citizens between the ages of 16 - 35 years to gain practical experience and work based training with companies in Trinidad and Tobago. This programme is facilitated under the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training.
Employers interested in this programme can fill out the form available online to register for the programme.

The benefits a company can gain from registering for the OJT programme are:
- ability to acquire competent additions to the workforce via the OJT programme
- up to 60% of the stipend paid to OJT trainees are reimbursed by the government
- the social responsibility of the organisation is fulfilled
- the organisation is assisting in training and employing citizens which improves the economy.
