Number portability allows telephone consumers (people with a telephone) to change their telephone service providers without changing their phone numbers.

Consumers can now switch telephone providers without having to advise friends, family, customers, colleagues or associates that their telephone number has changed.

Porting can only occur if a number is not currently barred or suspended from making outgoing calls and all outstanding bills and contractual charges are paid.

To port a number, you must
1 - Visit the telephone service provider than you wish to port to (i.e. your new service provider)

2 - Fill out the porting request form and wait up to 3 working days for the porting to take place.

3 - You will be required to text the word "PORT" to the number 97678 (9PORT) from the mobile number being ported.

NOTE: While waiting to be ported, you can still use your current mobile provider's service. You would be required to pay for the service provided by your current provider, between the port was initiated to after the port is finalized.
