A trade union is an organisation which consists primarily of union leaders and union representatives. The organisation has members which consist of workers/employees from a specific company or industry. The primary responsibility of this organisation is to protect the rights of its members.

Some key responsibilities of a trade union are:

1. To negotiate wages and working conditions on behalf of the employees
2. Regulate relations between the employer and employee
3. Settle grievances on behalf of the employees
4. Negotiate and enforce collective bargaining
