What are the local government elections? Who is elected and who votes?

Local government elections are elections held every 5 years in districts to elect a Councillor to represent the community and its people. These Councillors campaign and are elected by the people within the district. Councillors hold public offices and are accountable to the Member of Parliament or the district.
